Welcome to Route Y!

Chris has been planning on going back to school and we really, REALLY, really wanted to go to BYU - it would be faster, we would get to live in Provo vs. downtown SLC, we would be close to family, lots of reasons. Well, we applied to other schools, just in case, BYU prefers to keep their spots open for specific graduate programs or undergrads. Since we knew we wouldn't be either, we just kept hoping they would be okay with it and felt really good that we would end up there. Well, late Thursday night, we got an email that the decision had been made and to check thier website. It said "denied". The reason it gave was that you needed a minimum GPA of 3.0 (which he had) and could not plan on attending for more than 1 year (we were planning on 1 year and 1 semester). We weren't ready to let it go, we had felt so good about BYU and accepting anything else just felt wrong. Chris had the impression that he needed to talk to someone face to face. So Friday morning Chris called the school and asked to meet with the decision committee and a time was set up for Monday. On Monday morning Chris left - with a picture of the kids - if needed - to plead our case, that we really really wanted to go to BYU. Guess what?! The committee had somehow only looked at his freshman year GPA! and had missed several years of transcripts! The guy looked at him and said, "Whoops! Welcome to BYU!". In addition, we sold our truck yesterday! We are so excited, things are all falling into place, and we feel confident our house will sell also. Plans are we will be heading out to Provo in about 3 weeks! Congratulations Chris, way to not take no for an answer! I am so greatful he felt prompted to meet with someone in person and that things would all work out.
