Plans update

Thank you to all our friends and family for all your support and inquiries about how this past week has gone! As far as we know it went, well, we just don't know. Chris has been doing really great on practice exams, and then on the day of the real thing, he got a little dizzy and nauseous from an inner ear thing he occasionally gets. The score should be back around the beginning of March, but most of his secondary applications are due before then - so we will go ahead and turn them in without knowing what he got and if he gets in - great!
At the beginning of all of this, we found that traditionally he should not even be able to begin the application process until June, 2010 - so finding this small opportunity to apply early - without a lot of time to prepare - we knew might be a long shot, but it was something we could do to get closer to our goal, even if it doesn't work out perfectly, we won't have to wonder if we should have given it a shot.
Chris has worked like crazy this past year (less than a year actually) to get us here - sell a house, sell a truck, sell a lot of junk from our "lots of storage space" home and move us to Provo for school, start school again, fine tune his resume a bit more in the medical field than it had been, research the schools, take the classes needed to do well on the MCAT and be qualified for Med schools. Wow, it has been a busy year!
So at this point, we have one plan in mind - Chris has now received invitations to about 10 D.O. schools and we will continue to fill those out and send them in. Hopefully there will be a few interviews out of those and several offers to schools to choose from. Most of these schools are in small towns in the mid-west or back east like Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Georgia and Pennsylvania which we are very excited about. Three are here in the west, Arizona, Colorado and Washington. If he is accepted this year, he might be leaving the beginning of summer to go back east for Officer Training in the Air Force (if he is accepted for the scholarship) most likely for 4 weeks and then we will be packing up for school!
If we don't get in within the next few months, he will take the MCAT again so we will be ready to do the traditional June application and we would start 2011.
