Us Latley

For Pioneer day we went on a really fun hike up to the Brighton Ski Resort. We brought picnic lunches with us and ate in the backyard of the church up there. The squirrels were very friendly and were happy to entertain us with their chip catching abilities and holding grapes in their mouths (like a dog carries a ball). The kids had so much fun (okay, the adults got a pretty good kick out of it too) and were entertained by the little guys for a good half hour. One squirrel came up to Emily to smell her shoe and Debbie chatted about her new "squirrel and fishy friends" for the last 3 days. There was a pretty little stream that we watched rainbow trout swim in and the drive through the beautiful mountains was one of my favorite parts.
After our mountain hike we headed back to Grama and Grampa's for a nice cool movie, and then headed out for more fun.
We played in a little water park outside the local shopping center. I think the adults got as wet as the kids!
After more fun in the sun we ended the night back at Grama and Grampa's for more water, slip N slide fun, huge BBQ and watched a few firework shows from the deck up on the mountains. Thanks Grama and Grampa (and everyone else who helped plan) for the great 24th of July! The kids are claiming it's their most favorite day yet.

For the 4th of July we went camping out at the famous Bundy Reunion on the Arizona Strip (cut off from Arizona between the Grand Canyon and Utah) for some fun camping. Even if you don't love the dirt and camping, there are so many fun things to do and SOOO many family members that you can't help but have a good time anyway. This year we had over 1,000 family members along with about 150 visitors. We visited the ice caves, the grand canyon, had a skeet shoot, talent show, auction, dances, family dinners, reminicing with the ancestors (the oldest generation there tells stories about their parents and grandparents - letting us all in on what they were like) and closed on Sunday with a testimony meeting. I love my family and our amazing family reunion! Of course it wouldn't be a true Bundy reunion experience without stopping and the schoolhouse were my Grandpa went to school and ringing the bell (Debbies favorite) and swinging in the old swing (Emily's favorite) and getting a flat tire (Chris' favorite) - okay, probably not his favorite, but all us girls travling with him were glad he knew what to do!
